What you’ll be doing:

As an Apprentice Civil Engineering CAD Technician you will be an integral and important part of the Transport and Infrastructure Design Team. You will provide support to Engineers (of all levels) within the team, and on occasions support colleagues across the wider Service/Business.

You will provide support to colleagues at all stages of design, from initial concept through to construction and handover stages. Providing effective solutions using MicroStation/AutoCAD / Civil 3D software. You will work on a wide variety of exciting projects across all industry sectors.

As an Apprenticeship Civil Engineering CAD Technician you will learn and develop your skills in MicroStation/AutoCAD/Civil 3D, as well as other software packages, learning and developing skills & engineering draughting techniques for contributing to the output of civil engineering design drawings.

You will work under close supervision of others within the team, who will support you in your personal development of industry knowledge and skills as an apprentice.

What you’ll bring:

• Good communication and organisational skills
• An aptitude to problem solving
• Demonstrable enthusiasm, ambition and a willingness to learn
• Computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, and ideally some experience using computer modelling software, however this is not essential.
• Teamworking skills including the ability to contribute to team discussions.
• Proactive and receptive to constructive advice and guidance
• The ability to use your initiative
• Willing to learn new skills and adapt
• Know one’s limitations and when to ask for help or escalate
• Work independently when appropriate and take responsibility and pride in your work
• Effectively contribute to discussions as part of a team
• Be thorough and pay attention to detail
• Have knowledge of engineering science and technology

Minimum 5 GCSEs at Grades 9-5 Including:

• Maths
• English
• Science
• ICT / Computer Sciences (or equivalent)
