The Opportunity: Heritage Consultant

Our growing Heritage Team is looking for a Heritage Consultant with broad skills and expertise to support diverse, complex projects across the UK. Based in our Leeds office, you’ll contribute to projects spanning infrastructure, housing, and renewable development – from early feasibility and assessments to developing scopes for fieldwork and supporting planning success.

Whether you’re an experienced consultant or a field archaeologist/heritage professional ready to make the move into consultancy, this is a career-defining opportunity. We offer a clear career progression framework, mentoring, and support to help you achieve professional accreditation (CIfA and/or IHBC) if you don’t already hold it.

What You’ll Be Doing

Supporting Clients on projects locally and nationwide.

Delivering archaeological/heritage services across the development cycle.

Preparing fee proposals, tenders, and exploring new business opportunities.

Producing heritage assessments, reports, and project designs for fieldwork.

Advising Clients, stakeholders, and colleagues with clear consultancy insight.

Managing sub-contractors and overseeing fieldwork delivery.

Balancing multiple projects, deadlines, and competing demands with ease.

Working collaboratively across BWB offices while owning your contribution.

What You’ll Bring

A degree in an Archaeology/Heritage-related subject.

Strong knowledge of British archaeology and fieldwork techniques.

Experience producing a variety of heritage reports (DBAs, HSAs, WSIs, Project Designs, ES chapters, etc.).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in GIS.

Ability to manage projects, deadlines, and budgets effectively.

A collaborative mindset with confidence working independently.

A full driving license and willingness to travel.
