What you’ll be doing:
- This position will include business development (internal and external), project management; liaising with clients, planning authorities, and relevant stakeholders; financial management of projects; designing and managing the delivery of projects; acting as technical guide for clients; reviewing and developing others in the team. The successful candidate will be expected to offer clear, consistent, and thoughtful advice to colleagues across diverse disciplines to help achieve project goals.
- Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record of providing heritage advice on major projects, experience independently leading a team of heritage professionals, and be excited to take on the challenge of heritage consultancy in a diverse market.
- You will be expected to lead fieldwork projects from planning and other consent applications and deliver bespoke archaeological strategies and works for developments and infrastructure. Ideally, you will have a specialism, skill or area of knowledge that contributes to the development of the team and our wider business.
- Not only will you have a track record of successful project delivery, strong communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain excellent relationships with a range of clients and peers, you will have the drive and imagination to identify and pursue business development and marketing opportunities.
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in archaeology, cultural heritage management, architecture, heritage conservation or a closely related field
- An existing consultancy background with 10 years plus of experience in all aspects of Heritage (including archaeology and built heritage)
- ideally more than 5 years fieldwork experience (with Supervisor/ project management experience).
- Strong experience in client-facing consultancy
- Business development skills and experience
- Monitoring and assuring the work of archaeological sub-contractors the review of various deliverables pre and post fieldwork.
- Preparing competitive tenders and designing the scope and methodology for archaeological fieldwork.
- Producing or contributing to Heritage Assessments, EIA’s (including screening, scoping and technical chapters).
- Experience in Public Inquiries and appeals (not essential but demonstrable knowledge of policy).
- Undertaking stakeholder, curator and client liaison.
- Strong English technical writing skills
- Strong English oral and written communication skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft programme
- Resourceful, innovative, self-motivated, strong initiative
- Willingness to travel
