Role Overview 

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to assist our northern team of engineers. The successful candidate will work with the team leader and be responsible for managing smaller projects and assisting technically on larger more complex projects, which will include roads, rail, and strategic developments. They will play a pivotal role in providing sustainable geotechnical solutions and ensuring the successful delivery of projects while exceeding client expectations.

What you’ll be doing 

• The role will include both site and office based working. 
• Act as a mentor in a team of geotechnical engineers, providing guidance and technical support. 
• Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment to encourage professional growth and development. 
• Oversee aspects of geotechnical project delivery, from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to technical standards, budgets, and schedules. 
• Provide expert technical input on geotechnical ground engineering aspects of projects, including earthworks, foundation solutions, slope stability, and retaining structures. 
• Have experience in designing procuring and managing ground investigations including expertise in soil and rock logging to BS5930 and Eurocode 7, sampling, laboratory analysis and reporting. 
• Ideally have experience with geotechnical software packages such as Slope W, Plaxis, and Geo5 to analyze and design solutions. 
• Assisting in building and maintaining strong Client relationships and understanding their needs and expectations. 
• Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices, integrating innovative solutions into project delivery.

What you’ll bring 

• A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geology or related field. Master's degree preferred. 
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership with a recognised professional institution. 
• Minimum of five years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a proven track record of leading and delivering complex projects. 
• Strong technical proficiency in geotechnical analysis and design, with experience using software such as Slope W, Plaxis, and Geo5. 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with clients and stakeholders, and with a commitment to fostering a collaborative work environment.
