What you’ll be doing:
Obtaining and reviewing utility record plans, identifying development risks/constraints with regards to existing utility infrastructure and proposals required to serve a development.
Supporting senior staff and the wider team in the procurement strategies for new utility connections, diversionary works and disconnections.
Preparing coordinated utility drawings using AutoCAD software.
Reviewing utility proposals against client requirements, to identify potential risks and opportunities.
Simultaneously managing numerous projects and chasing utilities for responses to ensure project milestones are met.
Producing detailed and accurate technical reports.
Building relationships with utility asset owners and contacts both internally and externally.
Leading on the production of fee proposals and resource budgets for projects.
What you’ll bring:
Educational Background: An Engineering Degree (Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical) or a similar equivalent qualification, OR recognized Project Management qualifications (such as PFQ or PMQ).
Experience & Knowledge
Utility Infrastructure: A solid understanding of the requirements set by Electricity, Gas, Water, and Telecommunications network owners.
Commercial Awareness: Demonstrable experience working with Multi-Utility providers, iDNOs (Independent Distribution Network Operators), and ICPs (Independent Connection Providers), including a strong grasp of associated commercial risks and opportunities.
Client Management: Proven experience in successfully developing and maintaining strong, long-lasting client relationships.
Experience of Utility Procurement & Management: Experience of working in a utility procurement and management role, or a background in fulfilling such a role within industry (essential) or have experience in a similar background.
Utility Procurement Processes: An understanding of the processes for procuring utility information and the utility infrastructure marketplace.
Construction & Engineering Knowledge: Knowledge of the construction and/or engineering industry.
Technical Utility Knowledge: Experience in technical aspects of utility works including an ability to understand the impact of utility constraints on a scheme (essential).
Skills & Abilities
Project Management: The ability to seamlessly manage and execute multiple projects concurrently, effectively organizing your own time as well as your project teams.
Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with co-professionals and deliver high-quality, articulate reports.
Client Value Delivery: Ability to deliver value to clients through effective and proactive utility management.
Workload Management: Ability to effectively manage and prioritise workload.
Organisation & Initiative: Highly organised, self-motivated and proactive, with an ability to work autonomously as well as within a team.
Teamwork: Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
Report Writing & Stakeholder Engagement: Skills in report writing, stakeholder engagement, and an ability to communicate across all levels, both written and verbally.
Health & Safety: Awareness and compliance with relevant Health and Safety regulations for both onsite and office-based work.
Desirable Criteria
Technical Calculations: The ability to develop accurate utility demand calculations based on the specific needs of a development.
Software Proficiency: Practical experience using AutoCAD and/or Civils 3D to produce high-quality project models and design outputs.
AutoCAD Competency: Competent with AutoCAD design software packages.
